Contents Cleaning

Whenever possible, contents are attended to on-site. However, in some instances, Crystal Restoration requires the services of technicians who are specifically trained and experienced in a particular trade (i.e., specialty drapery, upholstery and carpet cleaning and restoration, electronic systems servicing and furniture repair and refinishing, to name a few). In either case, it is important to treat all furnishings and materials promptly to maximize the chances for full restoration to predamage conditions.

Draperies and Upholstery:

In most cases, specialty draperies are removed to a professional plant facility for cleaning, deodorizing and/or repair work.

Upholstered items are usually cleaned and treated on-site. In those instances where odors have permeated the fabric, the items are moved to Crystal's warehouse for intense ozone treatments.

Carpeting and Area Rugs:

In cases where carpeting is glued to the floor and determined to be salvageable, Crystal Restoration's technicians will remove all excess water, treat the carpet with an EPA-approved fungicide, clean thoroughly, and then retreat the carpeting with fungicides and deodorants.

For carpet involving padding, similar procedures are followed. However, since wet pads cannot usually be restored one-hundred percent, they are often removed and later replaced by professional installers.

Oriental carpets and specialty area rugs are usually best treated off-site. Crystal Restoration utilizes the services of various carpet experts to plant clean and/or repair valuable area rugs.

If any carpeting has been exposed to sewage or black water, Crystal Restoration will insist on their removal and disposal to avoid possible future health risks.

Electronic Systems:

High-tech electronic equipment can often be costly to replace; therefore, prompt action on the part of our contracted technicians is essential for successful corrosion control and restoration.

Cleaning, repair and restoration of electronic systems is only performed upon approval of an authorized representative of the insurance carrier. If required, Crystal Restoration can provide an assessment of the replacement costs of each item before proceeding with such services.

Furniture Cleaning, Repair and Restoration:

If being attended to on-site, the furniture is carefully cleaned with specially formulated wood cleaners. If odors remain, the furniture is placed in our ozone chamber for at least 24 hours, the recommended time period for effectively extracting residual smoke odor trapped in wood and/or fabric. If necessary, special oils and polishers are then applied to restore the wood's natural beauty and color, and to preserve the grain.

If warehousing is required, the cleaned and restored items are carefully wrapped and stored until the owner is ready for delivery, with each item being inventoried and tagged.

In severe cases, damaged furniture is delivered to one of our independent, expert furniture restorers. The furniture is assessed to determine if restoration is possible. A repair estimate, along with the approximate replacement costs for each item, is then provided to the insurance carrier for further review before starting the refinishing process.

Restoration of antiques and family heirlooms is extremely critical in order to minimize both claim costs and property losses. When required, Crystal Restoration utilizes the services of only those individuals who are specially trained and experienced in this field.
